Travel Tip Tuesday

Global Entry is set to become pricier come October 1, 2024. U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced that the application fee for a five-year membership will rise from $100 to $120, marking a 20% increase. This adjustment, the first since the program's inception in 2008, applies to Nexus as well, which facilitates entry from Canada into the U.S., now costing $120 from the previous $50. Sentri, serving both Canada and Mexico, already commands a fee of $122. Interestingly, there's no announced fee hike for the standalone TSA PreCheck program. Despite the increase, Global Entry remains an attractive option for frequent international travelers, especially with its added benefit of expedited TSA checkpoints. Many popular travel credit cards currently reimburse the $100 Global Entry application fee, although it's uncertain whether they will adjust their perks to accommodate the increase.
